Motorola is expanding its Android 17 rollout in the United States, with the update reaching the 2026 Razr Ultra and reportedly spreading to more devices across the company’s lineup. The rollout follows Motorola’s August overview of Android 17, which described the features but did not provide a firm schedule for when individual phones would be updated.
The Razr Ultra (2026) update was observed as a 4.17GB download with build number A171WLH.38-19-5. It is still based on the September 2026 security update. Motorola’s condensed changelog highlights a fresh, expressive design and smarter notifications, two themes covered in the company’s broader Android 17 feature description.
The update is not limited to the Razr Ultra. Reports indicate that the Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60 Pro and Motorola Signature have also begun receiving Android 17 updates. Edge 70 devices reportedly started receiving their updates several weeks earlier. The Razr Fold had not yet received the update when the latest rollout report was published, although it may follow as Motorola expands availability.
Android 17 brings several changes to Motorola’s home screen and quick settings. Stackable widgets let users combine multiple widgets into one block and swipe through them rather than giving each widget separate space. The update also adds themed icons, which can be enabled from Home settings, and lets users hide labels on quick-settings tiles when using the Classic style.
Notifications receive a larger overhaul. Live Updates allow apps to maintain a continuously updated status-bar or notification snippet instead of sending repeated alerts. Notification summaries can condense a long group chat or rapid sequence of messages into a one-sentence overview. Motorola also says the system can organise notifications by separating personal messages from lower-priority automated alerts and grouping some of those alerts into quieter folders under Silent notifications.
The update adds more control over HDR brightness. HDR photos and video can push a phone’s display to very high brightness levels; Enhanced HDR brightness controls allow users to reduce that intensity or disable the boost so HDR content plays at normal brightness.
Motorola also lists new sharing options in Settings > Connected devices. Tap to Share is designed for sharing a photo or file with one nearby person by placing phones together, while Quick Drop is intended for sending files to a reusable group of friends or colleagues.
The company describes the Android 17 update as including broader security, compatibility, performance and stability improvements as well. Those include protection against evolving malware, phishing and data-breach threats, better compatibility with newer applications, bug fixes and possible battery-life improvements depending on the device.
Availability remains dependent on the model, carrier and region. The 4.17GB Razr Ultra package and the other device rollouts are reported observations rather than a complete Motorola schedule, so owners should check their phone’s system-update screen rather than assume a specific delivery date. The Motorola Razr Fold’s status was still unresolved in the latest report.
